Wireless Facilities, Inc. (now officially known as WFI) is one of the world's largest, independent providers of network and engineering services for global wireless carriers. In the 1990s, WFI survived and grew despite the volatile conditions that existed in the telecommunications industry. However, in 2001, WFI faced many of the same challenges that countless other companies faced due to weak economic conditions and the aftermath of 9/11.

Despite these tough times, WFI once again survived and grew. In 2004, the company made the decision to diversify into three distinct business units serving wireless carriers, enterprise customers, and the government. However, this diversification revealed a weakness: because the company lacked a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications campaign, it was hard to convey the advantages of these new services to potential customers.

To solve this problem, WFI formed a new marketing department. I joined the department in February of 2005 as the company's Web Developer/Programmer and Graphic Designer. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, and working closely with our Manager of Events and Communication and another graphic designer, I worked on a variety of design and communication projects that contributed to the company's overall marketing efforts.

Today, WFI is enjoying a well-defined and consistent marketing and communications program. I'm also proud to say that one of the magazine ads I created won the Platinum Award (the highest award in the competition) in the 2005 MarCom Creative Awards Competition.
